The 2nd GFA Regional Symposium was held in Los Angeles, CA on November 5, 2011 at the Central Arts High School No. 9 in downtown LA. Over 120 guitar students from around the state gathered for a day of performance auditions, workshops, and the opportunity to participate in a guitar orchestra led by Marc Teicholz. Ensembles from LA Valley College, CSU Northridge, Pepperdine University, University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, CSU Dominguez Hills, and the San Francisco Conservatory performed on a noon concert. Selected soloists from various age groups and the guitar orchestra performed on the evening concert.  Participants received free strings, tuners, and guitar polish from GFA sponsor D'Addario. All those involved felt that the day was an effective way to build community among guitarists in the LA area and were enthusiastic for more GFA events like this one in the future.  You can see videos from the day's events on our YouTube channel, or check out a few of them below.
