GFA Seeks New Soundboard Editor

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA - December 1, 2014 - Guitar Foundation of America seeks applicants for the position of Editor of Soundboard magazine. The Editor is responsible for determining content and overseeing all production of the magazine, collaborating with editorial staff and writers to ensure the creation of high-quality articles, and working closely with the Art Director to develop a visually appealing layout. Applicants should have an extensive knowledge of classical guitar. Please submit resume and cover letter to Connie Sheu, GFA General Manager at by December 20, 2014.

Dr. Kim Perlak worked as the Editor of Soundboard for the past three years. She was responsible for reenvisioning the magazine and transforming it into a more accessible publication with an appealing, modern format. "We are immensely grateful to Dr. Perlak for shepherding the magazine into a new phase which will ultimately include a second periodical called Soundboard Scholar,” said Brian Head, GFA Artistic Director.

Dr. Perlak commented, "For the past three years, it has been an honor to work with the GFA team to redesign Soundboard and take the lead as Editor-in-Chief. Corresponding with contributors from across our community of players, composers, educators, luthiers, and scholars and working with our team of editors and artists has been rewarding and a lot of fun. This year, my second as Assistant Chair of Guitar at Berklee College of Music, I'm immersed in a leadership position in a vibrant, stylistically diverse, and very large community. So, it's the perfect time for me to hand-off the Editor responsibilities of Soundboard to a new musician-scholar who can devote his/her energy to carrying the publication on. I'm looking forward to assisting in the transition, and staying on with the team in a different role."
