GFA Announces Los Angeles Regional Symposium

The Guitar Foundation of America presents its third LA-based
Regional Symposium on November 9, 2013 at Central Los Angeles High School for
Visual and Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles. This event seeks to build a sense of
community through workshops and the formation of a guitar orchestra, offer
educational services through adjudicated performance opportunities, and provide
community outreach through free concerts open to the public. The College Guitar Ensemble Showcase at 1pm
will present professional-level students from guitar programs across the state.
The 8pm concert will feature the GFA Regional Symposium
Guitar Orchestra under the direction of acclaimed American guitarist Adam
Holzman of the University of Texas at Austin along with solo performers
selected from the day’s auditions. Participants are also offered two workshops
presented by Vladimir Gorbach, the 2011 winner of the GFA International Concert
Artist Competition as well as Pomona based guitarist, luthier, and teacher, Jack
Sanders.
The Guitar Foundation of America inspires artistry, builds
community, and promotes the classical guitar internationally through excellence
in performance, literature, education and research. Central Los Angeles High School for Visual
and Performing Arts is located at 450 North Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, CA. The GFA Regional Symposium will take place from
10:00 am to 8:30pm. Registration is free
for GFA members, and both concerts are open to the public free of charge.
