1996 Roberto Gomes double-back

Posted By Hideki Yamaya, Thursday, September 1, 2016

Classical guitar by Roberto Gomes, 1996 ‘La Loca’ #121

Cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides.  Roberto Gomes is a Brazilian luthier who was living and working in Santa Cruz, CA. at the time.  Concert quality guitar, extremely loud, rich sound, very easy to play.  The secret to the volume is an internal soundboard, which he called a ‘double back’; this could be seen in one of the photos.  Has been played in countless gigs and concerts, and has some battle scars to show for it, but the French polish finish has been touched up recently, and looks very nice for a 20 yr. old instrument.  Around yr. 2000, it was serviced by John Gilbert, who installed a new nut, bridge saddle, and Gilbert tuners.  65cm scale.  It was used in these two recordings of mine:

Asking $4500 plus shipping.  The instrument is located in Portland, Oregon, USA.
