The 2nd Korea International Guitar Festival organized by the Korea Guitar Association has been announced.
August 11th – 15th, 2016 (Thursday-Sunday)

Info about the International Competition
Participation fee: 80 US $ (free for full paying participants of masterclasses)
Date: August 12th – 14th
Application deadline: July 17th
Please send a completed application form and audio file for preliminary round.
Preliminary round: Per audio, July 17th, 2016
Main round: August 12th, 2PM
Final round: August 14th, 3 PM
Requirements: participants must be born after January 1st, 1983 and before December 31th, 2002 (age 13 to 14)
I. Rewards and Prizes
-First: 6,000,000 KRW (and one handmade classical guitar by Seo Minseog)
-Second: 3,000,000 KRW
-Third: 1,000,000 KRW
*Prize money will be paid after tax deduction

The Chamber Orchestra of New York, in affiliation with Bologna, Italy, has announced the Winner of 5th edition of the The Respighi Prize: Guitarist Piotr Pakhomkin (Russia). Mr. Pakhomkin, the first Russian-born artist to win The Respighi Prize, will be featured during the orchestra's 2017/18 Season "Masterwork Series" at Carnegie Hall.

Though not officially announced yet, the dates and rules for the Incontri Chitarristici di Gargnano at Lake Garda in Italy with Oscar Ghiglia, Massimo Lonardi and Elena Papandreou have been released in advance.
The dates will be as follows:
July 15th, 2016 is the deadline for sending the youtube video for the eliminatory round of the competition by e-mail, as well as all the required documents (see the attached rules for details).
August 26th and 27th, 2016 semi-final and final of the competition.
August 27th auditions for the course will take place.
The course will take place from the 28th of August to the 5th of September.

Boston GuitarFest 11: Viva España!
June 15-19
Boston, MA
New England Conservatory and Northeastern University
Eliot Fisk, New England Conservatory, and Northeastern University host a week of concerts, classes, competitions, and expos, this year on a Spanish theme. Full participants, auditors, and competitors can receive earlybird rates by registering before May 30, 2016.
Classes. Each full participant receives 2 lessons with faculty, with the possibility of one being a masterclass with Eliot Fisk, Oscar Ghiglia, or Joaquin Clerch.
Competitions. Performance competition winners receive a cash award, a prize guitar by Noe Zalapa, and a concert at the next year's festival.
Concerts. Nightly concerts celebrating the Spanish theme, including appearances by Anabel Montesinos, Grisha Goryachev, Zaira Meneses, Joaquin Clerch, Oscar Ghiglia, Eliot Fisk, and more.
Activities. From a luthier's expo to round-table discussions to a museum visit, there are plenty of options to experience Boston and enjoy the GuitarFest community.
