Grammy Nomination for John Schneider

Posted By Connie Sheu, Friday, September 20, 2013

The latest Bridge Records release by guitarist and radio personality John Schneider was nominated for "Best Classical Compendium” at the Grammys this year. The three CD Harry Partch: Bitter Music features him as the narrator, guitarist, violist, and singer in Partch’s Depression era autobiography that was written in 1940. His lengthy article on "Partch’s Guitars” is featured in the debut edition of Soundboard Scholar.

The former GFA president is no stranger to the Grammys: as guitarist for Southwest Chamber Music, he played vihuela on Music of Carlos Chavez Vol. 3 which was nominated in the categories of "Best Classical Album”, "Best Small Ensemble” and the Latin Grammy for "Best Classical Album”. His album featuring the guitar works of Carlos Chavez (Vol.4) was nominated for "Best Classical Album” by the Latin Grammys (2006), while his premiere recording of William Kraft’s Encounters XV for guitar & percussion nominated for "Best Classical Album” Latin Grammy in 2010.
