The 2nd GFA Regional Symposium was held in Los Angeles, CA on
November 5, 2011 at the Central Arts High School No. 9 in downtown LA.
Over 120 guitar students from around the state gathered for a day of
performance auditions, workshops, and the opportunity to participate in a
guitar orchestra led by Marc Teicholz. Ensembles from LA Valley
College, CSU Northridge, Pepperdine University, University of Southern
California, Loyola Marymount University, CSU Dominguez Hills, and the
San Francisco Conservatory performed on a noon concert. Selected
soloists from various age groups and the guitar orchestra performed on
the evening concert. Participants received free strings, tuners, and
guitar polish from GFA sponsor D'Addario. All those involved felt that
the day was an effective way to build community among guitarists in the
LA area and were enthusiastic for more GFA events like this one in the
