This summer at the GFA convention, we are proud to offer two guitar orchestra performance opportunities. Guitar orchestras promote community, help develop essential ensemble skills, and open the door for guitarists to perform a growing number of original compositions written for the medium. In addition to the GFA Guitar Orchestra directed by David Tanenbaum, this year's GFA Convention will feature a Youth Guitar Orchestra aimed at providing school age and college students an opportunity to open for Pavel Steidl's concert on the evening of June 24th. The Youth Guitar Orchestra will be directed by Scott Borg, guitar orchestra director of the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society. Rehearsals will take place on June 23rd and 24th. There will be a special registration rate for Youth Guitar Orchestra participants of $50 per student. This will allow students to attend the evening concert on the 23th and give access to all GFA Convention events on the 24th. This is only a two-day registration for qualified students, teachers, and parents. Participants wishing to stay for the entire convention will need to register for the full convention.
