Douglass Scott 2015

Classical guitar by Douglass Scott in 2015

645mm scale length

52mm nut width (43mm string spacing)

European spruce soundboard

Indian rosewood back and sides

Elevated fingarboard

Sound port with cover

Mahogany neck

Ebony fingerboard

Oil varnish finish on body and neck

French polish finish on soundboard

Gilbert tuners - gold plates, snakewood buttons

Hiscox case

Condition is excellent

$8100 Canadian dollars (about $6,000 USD)

Shipping worldwide is available. Within North America shipping is usually ~$245 CAD.

I am selling this guitar for the owner, who took very good care of it. The soundboard has a
number of shallow fingernail marks which I recently filled and smoothed with French polish. The rest of the guitar looks practically like
new. The oil varnish finish is thin but much more protective than French
polish.

The instrument comes with two saddles, one for a low action and one for a more standard action height.

As with all of my instruments, this is a fairly traditional style guitar
- all solid wood, fan bracing, fairly lightly built. The
sound is very balanced in all ways: register to register, note to note,
volume-wise, colour-wise, sustain-wise.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

dsguitars@gmail.com

Thank you,

Doug

2007 Mariano Tezanos "Maestro" concert classical guitar with case S/N 47. The top is German Spruce with back and sides of Brazilian rosewood. The neck is made of Spanish cedar with a ebony fingerboard. Finish is French polish. Scale length is 650mm nut width of 52mm.

The quality of materials and workmanship is second to none and, the sound is quite balanced with excellent separation of voices. It has plenty of volume and would easily project across any modern concert hall.

Instrument condition is very good. There is a small ding on the top, which has been professionally repaired and is strictly cometic. it is not a crack.

Marian Tezanos spent years working in the famous Ramirez guitar workshop and is regarded as one of the best builders in Madrid. His father, also name Marian was the luthier who's initials "MT" were found in some fo the best Ramirez guitars from the 60's known as their best period. His son obviously picked up a good deal from his dad, as his guitars are regarded as some the best made in Madrid.

The quality of the Brazilian rosewood sourced for this guitar is extremely rare. Based on the above description the guitar is priced appropriately at $6,750.00

1920's German Romantic guitar, perfect for a student or anyone who would like an inexpensive guitar to play 19th century repertoire. The back isn't glued on perfectly and there is a small hole, but it doesn't hurt the sound or playability. This could be easily repaired by a luthier, but I never bothered because it is barely noticeable. Comes with a nice tweed gig bag. $450. michaelpatilla@yahoo.com for more info.

This is a cedar top Segovia model with East Indian Rosewood from 2014. Polish is French polish and the guitar is in near mint condition. Despite its recent age the sound
is mellow. I am not a professional guitarist and believe this guitar is better off in the hands of a concert guitarist who can make it come to the life it deserves. Asking
price is $18,000 plus shipping and insurance. Would prefer a local pickup (Bavaria, Germany) so the prospective buyer can hear and see what they are purchasing. The guitar has only been lightly played. For more information contact Raymond at rayz_abroad@yahoo.com and tel: +49-941-46183026 in Germany.

Cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides. Roberto Gomes is a Brazilian luthier who was living and working in Santa Cruz, CA. at the time. Concert quality guitar, extremely loud, rich sound, very easy to play. The secret to the volume is an internal soundboard, which he called a ‘double back’; this could be seen in one of the photos. Has been played in countless gigs and concerts, and has some battle scars to show for it, but the French polish finish has been touched up recently, and looks very nice for a 20 yr. old instrument. Around yr. 2000, it was serviced by John Gilbert, who installed a new nut, bridge saddle, and Gilbert tuners. 65cm scale. It was used in these two recordings of mine:

Bruce Holzman of FSU has commented that it is one of the best out there. Easily worth more than my asking price. Comes with a used BAM case and the new Sloane tuners. Does have one indent from a string pop and the usual nail marks, still very good looking.

In addition to this direct tutelage, he is also heavily influenced by the guitars of Miguel Rodríguez, Santos Hernandez, and Benito Ferrer. After years of apprenticeship, Moreno opened shop in the famous Cuesta de Gomerez, in Granada, where he remained until the year 2000.
Thomas Humphrey was a very prolific and
popular American Luthier. He was very well known for his Millennium model with
its elevated fretboard and tapered top. Regretfully he passed away in 2008 at
59 years of age and in the prime of his career. This guitar is an excellent
example of the Millennium model. Powerful and very well balanced.

This is a 2011 concert classical guitar by Canadian builder Jeff Sigurdson. It is an EXCELLENT instrument for the serious student beginning to perform publicly. I have owned and played this instrument for one year, and it has met the demands of a semester of serious study at the Jacobs School of Music. It has performed wonderfully for me. Here are some features of this guitar:-Englemann spruce soundboard/Indian Rosewood back/sides-650 mm scale -52 mm wide nut.-Elevated fingerboard-Two soundports-French PolishThe body is somewhat smaller than most modern concert guitars, but it projects nicely. Though the instrument is in very good condition, it has a small ding on the bottom, and a small nail mark on the soundboard. It sustained a hairline crack in travel this past winter that was repaired at Ann Arbor Guitars in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A small rosewood cleat was added inside the guitar to reinforce the repair.I am asking $3,100 (with a hardshell case).

Hello,

As life will have it, I unfortunately have to part with my gorgeous 2010 Kolya Panhuyzen guitar due to financial reasons- only. I am the first owner and have been the only one since the guitar was built for me in the Summer of 2010. It is an absolutely beautiful guitar: cedar top with Brazilian back and sides (see photos), elevated fingerboard, 20th fret, etc. This guitar comes with Alessi tuning machines, and Hiscox case (brand new 2013).

Guitar only shows minimal signs of wear from professional use, and has absolutely no cracks. Just a few tiny nail dings and scratches around the sound-hole, but not visible until very close inspection. The guitar has been played-in well, and has opened up beautifully in three years.

The tone is rather warm and deep, with rich bass and exceptionally even, and well-sustaining trebles. The neck is shaped for comfort, and it feels great to touch. Te elevated fingerboard enhancement is twofold: while it's providing the easy access to the higher positions, it's also creating a string angle for better action and quicker tone response, as well as the longer sustain. Kolya Panhuyzen is one of the very few top luthiers building traditional fan-braced constructed guitars for several decades.

An absolute marvelous guitar, a one that would inspire a poet in you!

Asking $11,000 obo

This guitar is made in the USA.

Instrument Condition:	This guitar is in very good condition with no cracks or structural damage evident. There are a few areas of light dings and scratches on the top, mainly below the soundhole and behind the bridge, but this is considered normal playing wear and does not devalue the guitar considerably. The back has no cracks or repairs, but does have one relatively large area in the center, upper bout of the guitar, about 6” in diameter, where the finish is severely worn. This is due to the guitar being played many hours and the instrument coming in contact with the player in this area. It does not change the sound one bit, but devalues the guitar due to its appearance. The rest of the finish on the back is in fine condition with a few very fine, light scratches. All finish wear on the top and back can be touched up relatively easily and made to look "like new” for under $1,000. It’s my opinion that this will also increase the value of the instrument by about that much.

Instrument Appraisal by John Silva (trilogyguitars): This guitar, owned by Rafael Elizondo, is an excellent example of Greg Byers "newer generation” of guitars which stray just a bit from traditional with his use of lattice bracing and an elevated fingerboard. Greg is considered one of the most popular and top American luthiers at this time, and he has made about 300 classical guitars to date. His waiting list extends for over two years. The sound of this particular instrument is very well balanced with excellent separation of voices.

Up for sale is a almost brand new 2011 Randy Angella double top concert classical guitar. I bought this guitar about a year ago from a concert guitarist in east coast, and barely play it since I switch to shorter scale guitar (640 mm). So here is the chance to own one of the best comtemporary guitars. The prize winner guitarist Jorge Caballero played Angella's guitar on lot his concert tours, the same double top model. This guitar has huge volume and modern focus tone, totally different sound compared to traditional guitars, also different from those carbon composite top guitars. It has quarterly sawn Brazilian rosewood back and side, the 20th fret for concert players, and come with a brand new TKL case. There is no single scratch or mark, 100% clean top. The double top has 9 fans bracing pattern, with each single brace having carbon inlayed in the center, which produce unique tone. The action is set a little high (for most concert players), but can be adjustable. If interested, please contact: taoacu2000@yahoo.com

Top: cedar (double layers)
Back/side/Bridge: solid Brazilian rosewood
Neck: Mahogany
Fingerboard: Ebony
Scale length: 650 mm
Nut width: 53 mm
Tuner: Gotoh Premium
Action height: 6/32nd" at low E and 5/32nd at high E

Also forgot to mention there is a little bit of radius at every fret, so it facilitate the barring of the left hand.

2006 Humphrey Millennium

Here
is a superb 2006 Thomas Humphrey "Millennium" model guitar in fabulous condition. The spruce soundboard,
with a hint of bearclaw in the lower bout, is in almost new condition with the
most minimal playing wear and only a couple of tiny marks. The grain varies
from rather wide on the sides to very tight at the middle seam. The back and
sides are Brazilian Rosewood in nearly perfect condition.

This guitar is from the last 2 years of Tom’s
production and has the trademark quality of tone that the Humphrey Millennium
is known for - a powerful, "hollow" and very focused sound which
makes these instruments particularly well-suited to the concert stage, where
added projection is welcomed by both the audience and the player. I have
listened to this guitar played in a
concert hall, back to back, with other great concert instruments. In addition
to having great volume/projection, it has a warm beautiful tone, which compared
very favorably to that of traditionally braced guitars by Dean, Ambridge, Marvi
and Byers.

The neck measurements are all standard.
The nut = 53mm, action height at 12th fret is 4.2 mm on the bass
side and 3mm on the treble. The action on this guitar is perfect and a joy to
play, and of course, it has the raised fingerboard, which makes playing up high
remarkably easy. It has the original Gotoh tuners with black Florentine buttons.

I am, I believe the 2nd
owner. The first one was a steel string player/collector who, since he hardly
played this guitar, decided to sell it after about 5 years.

This is a fabulous example
of Tom Humphrey’s late work and would be a great instrument for a serious
collector or concert performer. Included is the
original GWW hardshell, chestnut/alligator, vinyl case in great shape.

Feel free to ask questions; I’m happy
to tell you anything more I know about this guitar. I'm am asking $ 20,000.

Alan Johnston

612-618-1345

Up for sale is a vintage 1966 Masaru Kohno classical guitar.
This guitar is in mint condition with very few nail marks. It has Hokaido
Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and side. The guitar has been well kept and
taken care of since it was made and it sounds very beautiful with clarity and
the vintage tone. This particular guitar has a special value because it was
made just one year before Masaru Kohno won the gold medal of the
 Elizabeth's
Concourse International Guitar Building Competition in Belgium in 1967.
Nowadays it is very difficult to find a 1967 Masaru Kohno, almost impossible
since his guitars made in 1967 were either kept by Kohno's students or by the
guitar collectors. For the past 15 years, I haven't seen any 1967 Kohno guitar
for sale, either in the domestic or international market. So this is the good
opportunity to own one of the finest classical guitars in the world, no matter
you are a professional guitar player, or guitar collector or just classical
guitar fan. For detail about this guitar, please contact me at:

1964 Manuel Velazquez "Estrella"

This is a 1964 Manuel Velazquez "E3
Estrella” classical guitar, serial #A 64 0038. This is NOT a
signed guitar, it is my understanding that it comes from his
shop in Puerto Rico, made while he was there on a government program,
built by him and a handful of workers under his watch between '61 and
'64, I believe.

It has a spruce top with nice
bear-claw, like many of Velazquez's guitars. The back and sides are
solid rosewood, I cannot tell what type, it's awfully light for
Brazilian if that's what it is; my guess is E. Indian.

The instrument is in solid condition,
but has been handled somewhat roughly. There are many finish
scratches and dings, many denting the wood, but nothing I would call
severe. It has clearly been played with a pick at some point, and
there is considerable marking around the sound hole. All of the
joints and structure seem sound. I cannot see that there have ever
been any cracks/repairs. There is a bit of fret wear. The original
tuners were removed and replaced with Gilbert individual machines. I
have the originals and will send them along. They seem to be in good
shape except that the barrels upon which the strings wrap are coming
apart. The action is perhaps a bit high, I measure the sixth string
as 5/32” at the 12th fret. The scale is 650mm.

This guitar sounds lovely. It is full
and balanced. Strong basses that are clear and don't interfere with
the trebles, which are very clear and have marvellous separation. It
is a rather light instrument, and I find that it sounds best with lighter
tension strings. The neck is quite thin but appears straight and
solid and is very comfortable. I mention that the action seems a tad high mainly because the
saddle is already quite low and there is not much downward
compensation available there. I have not noticed any change in the
geometry during the 10+ years I've had it.

I will include what I believe is
probably the original hard case. It is in very poor shape
cosmetically speaking, but is still solid.

I am ready to sell this for a fair
price, but confess I'm not sure what that is. I propose $3,000. Let
me know what you think!

2011 Glenn Canin Spruce Double Top classical guitar for sale, $8500. Select Italian spruce and top grade Indian rosewood. 650 scale. The guitar is equipped with Scheller snakewood and black roller tuners. In the opinion of many the new German engineered Schellers are the best tuners available. The guitar is essentially in new condition but has a few slight scratches that can be easily touched up t look like new. Renowned guitarist Rene Izquierdo told me "This is a great guitar. Don't sell it, you will regret it." But my hands are telling me I want a 640 scale guitar so I am selling this one. For more info, contact music@larryguitar.com.
