Subject: What qualities do you look for in a guitar?

As a classic guitar player and maker I know what it is that I am look for in a classic guitar:  that warm sound that wraps around you that gives you goose bumps so that is bowls over the audience and makes them sit up and say, so this is what Chopin was talking about! But, I am old school, I started playing classic guitar in 1974 when Segovia was considered to be the greatest player of all time, not classic guitarist had to play to a 5,000 seat plus hall and a guitar had a full palette of tonal colors, it wasn't just loud.

My question to GFA member is this:  what do you look for in a guitar? Is it playability or is in the range of tone colors that it can produce?  I would like to know what it is.

I have a Manuel Rodgriguez guitar that recently started producing a very interesting reverb effect on the b string 12th fret harmonic. It use to just give the pitch but now it gives of a wave of different pitchesHave you ever heard of that?. It's really cool. It seems it is happening by accident due to some imperfection on the guitar. I would love to own a guitar that did this on all harmonic producing frets. It really adds to the tone color pallet. Good question you asked.Playability is also a great thing. I have a nylon string finger style guitar made by Fender that does have a unique sound (though quiet) but it is just great to have the playabilty aspect and be able to fly through a piece of music with ease.
