Guitar Fort Worth and Weatherford College are proud to announce the 2nd annual Lone Star Guitar Festival and Competition at Weatherford College, June 2-5, 2016! Concerts by international touring artists Johannes Möller (Sweden), Kevin Manderville (USA), The Bandini/Chiacchiaretta Duo (Italy), Iliana Matos (Spain), Laura Young (Canada) And North Texas' own Kithara Duo and Ric Flauding with Russ Hewitt performing original works for guitar and Jazz Band. Along with seven concerts there will be three workshops, over 60 master classes taught by our concert artists as well as professors Emma Rush (Mohawk and Redemmer Colleges, Hamilton, ON), Apostolos Paraskevas (Berklee College of Music), Michael Dailey (Texas Wesleyan University), Tom Johnson (University of North Texas), Dan Kyzer (Mountain View College), Bryan Burns (Tarrant County College) and Steve Gottlieb (Mountain View College). Start your guitar day the right way with our finger aerobics class given by Lone Star favorite, Emma Rush! Other new events include the Composers Forum featuring Grammy nominated composer, Apostolos Paraskevas, GFA grand prize winner Johannes Möller, Weatherford College professor of composition and guitar, Ric Flauding, celebrated guitarist/composer, Olga Amelkina-Vera and moderated by composer and professor of music at Brookhaven College, Eddie Healy. Be sure to stop by the vendors expo and browse through a fine selection of handcrafted guitars. All this along with a guitar competition with a top prize of $1,000! Early-bird registration and concert ticket sales start February 1st, so get ready. This year at the Lone Star Guitar Festival and Competition promises to be bigger and better!
