Event: Between Worlds—Mandolinist Avi Avital & Friends
Date: Wed, Mar 16, 2016, 8 pm
Location: Lexington Avenue at 92nd St
Description:
Avi Avital has “exquisitely sensitive playing … stunning agility”—The New York Times

Avi Avital is on a crusade: To transform the sweet, folkoric mandolin into a thoroughly modern instrument, capable of astonishing virtuosity and profound poignancy. The first mandolin player to receive a Grammy Award nomination, Avital and his trio take a genre-defying tour of the globe, blurring borders between folk, classical and popular music. The program ranges from the Baroque Bach to traditional Turkish tunes. A perfect program for anyone who literally loves “the world of music.”

Avi Avital, mandolin
Ksenija Sidorova, accordion
Itamar Doari, percussion
