“Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa attacks the nylon strings of his guitar with a demonic playfulness.”—Guitar Player
This young Brazilian virtuoso, who has been blazing through the guitar world, returns to 92Y with his Brazilian seven-stringed guitar. (The extra string usually gives added depth to the bass). Costa is a champion of the choro, a form of Brazilian music marked by fast and happy rhythm, virtuosity, improvisation and modulations. In a program that includes his own works, he brings us a magical night of exuberant music from South America.
