PETER FLETCHER ANNOUNCES ONE NIGHT ONLY
PERFORMANCE AT CARNEGIE HALL APRIL 11, 2015
New York based classical guitarist Peter Fletcher spent the last two years on tour playing hundreds of dates across the country to stellar reviews. Now Peter is back with a new release on Centaur Records, and has just announced a one night only performance at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York. On Saturday April 11, 2015, Peter will present music from his new album, an all-Grieg project, in which he transcribed piano music to classical guitar.
The CD has garnered many promising reviews including this one:
"Fletcher’s arrangements pass a basic test: In giving us a “new look” at the composer and his music, they do not leave the listener pining for the originals...
Fletcher’s performances bear not a trace of strain or awkwardness. His playing reminds me of Segovia’s—not Segovia at the end of his career, when he sometimes sounded a little too careful, but Segovia at the time of his several Decca LPs from the 1950s and 1960s.This is mellow playing, and melody is king, but rhythmic vitality is never sacrificed, phrasing is precise, and harmonies always retain a jewel-like clarity."
- Raymond Tuttle Fanfare Magazine
In addition, Peter will also perform works by Bach, Rodrigo, Scriabin, Villa-Lobos and Paganini. With Peter currently on tour for over one hundred concerts across the country, this is a unique opportunity to be part of an intimate home town experience that only happens once a year!
"...Fletcher coaxed a duel echo sound from his guitar, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd... Those who heard his performanceSaturday were spellbound." - The News-Tribune
"The world class performances that he has been giving for the past decade and his growing list of accomplishments are the proof of his success and help to make him a true stand out in the classical guitar world." - Guitar International
