A fellow GFAer writes (edited to protect identity):
I have my (guitar) listed for sell on your site. I thought it would be nice to let the other members know of a scam I have seen twice (two different guitars) which goes as follows. Usually the English being used does not sound quite right. The scammer will say they want to buy your guitar without asking much about the instrument. Once the price has been agreed to and usually they don't care if they have to pay full asking price, they will not be able to send cash or check but will want to go through PayPal. They will not want to use standard shipping such as UPS or FedEx and will want to use some "pickup" service. They will tell you that the pickup service requires advanced payment ($980 in this case) and will only take it via Western Union (or the type) and that they cannot pay them themselves but will "add" in the appropriate amount if you will pay them. Then comes the hook...they claim that they have made the payment to your PayPal account and you get a couple of emails that look like they might be from Paypal...but they are not. If you look closely the PayPal url is from a foreign country and there has been a "temporary hold" on the funds until the guitar is picked up. You will have to use your own money for the "pickup" service. This should be a big hint. I talked to PayPal and this is a very well known scam. Don't get caught. Please pass the above along to my fellow members. It is easy to get caught up since we all want our guitars to sell, but when it sounds to good to be true and outside the country and you have to send money before getting money...RUN!!!

Very good shape, like new. This guitar was built for the famous concertist Turibio Santos. Spruce Friederich guitars are incredibly rare. This one is an exceptional model as it's like new and for its performance.
This model is the 'grand concert' featured with double-sides. it has a spruce top, Indian rosewood sides (both inside and outside), and the back is Indian rosewood as well. This guitar was never repaired or modified, in its total original condition. Dominique Field recently touched it up. He redid the neck French polish, reftretted it and cleaned the original polish all over - which has aged but still in excellent condition. This guitar is powerful and musical and it will always be an amazing instrument for concerts. On top of its general qualities, it is very flexible and lyrical as were Friederich's guitars back in the 70s.
This guitar is currently located in Paris at Dominique Field's shop. Shipping will be performed by Dominique Field which is a warranty of proper handling. Asking price is $39,000

This great guitar built by Jean Rompre in 2006. It has a spruce top and madagascar rosewood back and sides. The back is single-piece and arched. The top is radially braced with carbon fiber reinforcements.
Scale length is 650 mm. The guitar has a raised fingerboard, with the top tapering towards the upper bouts. The finish is french polish on the top, and lacquer on the back, sides, and neck. The tuners are of very high quality, with mother of pearl buttons. The bridge is scalloped ala Humphrey. There is moderate playing wear, with several inconspicuous scratches here and there. This was Andrew Zohn's concert guitar for several years. I bought it from an ex-student of his who had purchased it from him. This is a wonderful guitar, but I've often felt that my sound and technique do not match well with its capabilities, so I'm on the waiting list for a builder I admire very much, in hopes of finding a more suitable guitar. Price: $5,500. Please contact me at jeremy.andrew.bass@gmail.com for further information.

Up for sale is a vintage 1966 Masaru Kohno classical guitar.
This guitar is in mint condition with very few nail marks. It has Hokaido
Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and side. The guitar has been well kept and
taken care of since it was made and it sounds very beautiful with clarity and
the vintage tone. This particular guitar has a special value because it was
made just one year before Masaru Kohno won the gold medal of the
Elizabeth's
Concourse International Guitar Building Competition in Belgium in 1967.
Nowadays it is very difficult to find a 1967 Masaru Kohno, almost impossible
since his guitars made in 1967 were either kept by Kohno's students or by the
guitar collectors. For the past 15 years, I haven't seen any 1967 Kohno guitar
for sale, either in the domestic or international market. So this is the good
opportunity to own one of the finest classical guitars in the world, no matter
you are a professional guitar player, or guitar collector or just classical
guitar fan. For detail about this guitar, please contact me at:
taoacu2000@yahoo.com
. Asking for $5000 or best offer including domestic shipping. Will accept paypal payemnt if 3% paypal fee added to the cost. Serious buyers in west Michigan area please welcomed to stop by and try this guitar before purchase. Thanks
for looking.
