I have my (guitar) listed for sell on your site. I thought it would be nice to let the other members know of a scam I have seen twice (two different guitars) which goes as follows. Usually the English being used does not sound quite right. The scammer will say they want to buy your guitar without asking much about the instrument. Once the price has been agreed to and usually they don't care if they have to pay full asking price, they will not be able to send cash or check but will want to go through PayPal. They will not want to use standard shipping such as UPS or FedEx and will want to use some "pickup" service. They will tell you that the pickup service requires advanced payment ($980 in this case) and will only take it via Western Union (or the type) and that they cannot pay them themselves but will "add" in the appropriate amount if you will pay them. Then comes the hook...they claim that they have made the payment to your PayPal account and you get a couple of emails that look like they might be from Paypal...but they are not. If you look closely the PayPal url is from a foreign country and there has been a "temporary hold" on the funds until the guitar is picked up. You will have to use your own money for the "pickup" service. This should be a big hint. I talked to PayPal and this is a very well known scam. Don't get caught.
Please pass the above along to my fellow members. It is easy to get caught up since we all want our guitars to sell, but when it sounds to good to be true and outside the country and you have to send money before getting money...RUN!!!
